Hello and welcome to my blog, Mommy Notes from the
Edge. I’m a mother of two small
children, a wife, a writer; I’m probably a lot like you if you are reading
this. I lead one big crazy life that is
mostly happy even though it feels like I might go over the edge sometimes with
the insanity of everyday life. When I’m
not mothering, wifing, or writing I am also an adjunct professor of history and
literature and I have two extremely undisciplined dogs that I occasionally
enjoy. I live a good portion of the year
as an expat in Bogota, Colombia due to my husband’s job which makes an already
hectic life even more interesting.
I’m originally from Texas and lived there the majority of my
life until moving to Bogota. I got my
B.A. in Political Science and Spanish at UT Arlington and my M.A. in Humanities
there as well. (I have to add the degree
stuff; I worked so hard for it ya know.)
I worked as a high school Spanish teacher for 8 years which I could
write a whole blog on because that experience provided me with a lot of really
weird and interesting material but I’d probably get sued.
In this blog I will share with you my personal experiences
in this crazy adventure called motherhood.
I will try to impart to you advice based on my experiences however
twisted it may be. I will discuss the
everyday things that we all experience from a woman’s perspective; my
successes, failures, shortcomings, etc. I’ll
write about family, specifically mothering a family and all of the curve balls
that can throw at a woman. I will write
about all of the crazy crap that can happen; the good the bad and the
ugly. But all of it true, I’ll share all
of the details. I want my readers to
know that we all share the same struggles.
I want them to hear my story so they know that they are not the only
mom’s feeding their kids Oreos for breakfast.
I promise to be honest and true in everything that I share
here and even though some of my stories may sound outrageous I can’t even begin
to make this stuff up. So, I invite you
to read, peruse, comment on and enjoy this blog.
